Ford ST170

At its heart is a tuned version of the 130bhp 2.0-litre Ford Focus Duratec engine, producing 170BHP at 7000rpm and 140ft/ib of torque from 2500rpm. Transmitted through a Durashift six-speed manual gearbox, this is sufficient to allow the Ford Focus ST170 to achieve 0-62mph in 8.2 seconds and a top speed of 133mph. Another cracking engine from Ford.

Our new ST170 head shows some substantial improvements. A 22.7% increase in inlet flow and a massive 35.3% increase in exhaust flow make for some very useful power increases. The graph below also indicates a healthy increase in flow towards the top of the valve lift which translates to good top end power. Our predicted and tested power output for this head is 221 BHP at 7100 RPM with 180 ft/lb of torque at 5700rpm running with a modified standard inlet manifold. This head has a massive flow. 183CFM !!. If you run on throttle bodies and use a decent engine management system, this head will make over 300BHP. Think about it. What other bolt on performance modification has the potential to deliver this kind of performance ?

This head is intended for race purposes or road car owners who simply want the best power from their cars. This head increases the engine's full potential and allows you to take your tuning as far as you want with the absolute maximum flow. An excellent performance upgrade for this superb engine.

Remember, all our heads are fully balanced across the cylinders. The CFM ratings we state here are exactly what you get and we have tested power predictions on our Dyno to within 1 BHP of our prediction. Buy with absolute confidence that you are buying a head with a huge amount of expert development work built in and will perform as we say they will.

Need a full race engine ? Contact us for details. We supply fully built race engines built in-house to the highest specification. We are happy to fit your new cylinder head or advise on fitting if required.

Cost for this head is £950.00 + vat on an exchange basis. (£350 exchange). A 'taping' service is also available for this head at an additional cost of £100 which will give the final hand finish to the ports and provide a further 1% flow. This price includes valves.

Note : flow diagrams show flow against specific valve openings at 0.050 inch valve openings at 10" pressure. Therefore actual flow volume increase is measured as the area under the graph (indicated in yellow for inlet and blue for exhaust). Standard valve sizes are used on our heads unless specified as a big valve version. Tests shown here are carried out on a flow bench on a bare head without filters. Therefore the difference between a standard engine with standard inlet ducting and filters will be larger than shown here.

Custom made Camshafts

With all of our gas flowed heads we also provide a custom made camshaft service. These camshafts are designed to optimise the flow characteristics of our heads. They can also be specifically designed to deliver the power characteristcs you require for your specific application.

Your existing camshaft will work with our heads, however, if you want to get the most from one of these heads or you have a particular power characteristc you are looking for, we recommend that you consider our custom camshafts.

We are happy to discuss and advise on any aspect of modifying your engine with one of our heads to achieve the results we predict above. We can also supply the best quality gaskets, camshaft, valves, valve springs and head bolts to go with your new cylinder head. We also specialise in electronic engine management, carb and fuel injection , turbo and supercharger systems. We build race engines too. Built and tested on our own 1000bhp Engine Dyno. We can also fit your head to your engine if required and test your vehicle on our rolling road.
