Ford Cosworth

The Ford Cosworth engine is simply a legend. The YBT engine started life in the 4 x 4 Sierra Cosworth and found its way in to the Escort Cosworth. In standard turbocharged form delivered 227 BHP at 6250 rpm at factory standard of 0.8 bar boost. This head fits 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive vehicles.

Our gas flow engineering process measures flow as per a normally aspirated engine as turbo boost on a modified car cannot be easily simulated. However, our flow figures are nonetheless impressive. 30% improvement in CFM flow on the inlet and 24% improvement on exhaust at 10" pressure. A normally aspirated engine could produce as much as 271 BHP at 8000 rpm or 298 BHP at 10,000 rpm (if you dare) with this head. Depending on your boost, mapping, exhaust and other factors such as air temprature and barometric pressure, a turbo charged car could easily exceed 600 BHP with this head. In a road car it would certainly be a mad thing but because you engine runs more efficiently with this head, it would also be controllable and usable with superb low down power, less turbo lag, a lower power band and better fuel economy.

A fantastic bolt on modification to any YBT Cossie engine. You may have tried electronic remapping, exhaust mods, higher boost pressures on your engine, but to really take the power and overall drivability of you engine to another level, you need to get more flow through the engine. The Cosworth engine has such massive potential. This head realeases that potential and allows you to take your tuning as far as you want with the absolute maximum flow for this valve size. Remember, all our heads are fully balanced across the cylinders. The CFM ratings we state here are exactly what you get and we have tested power predictions on our Dyno to within 1 BHP of our prediction. Buy with absolute confidence that you are buying a head with a huge amount of expert development work built in and will perform as we say they will.

Cost for this head is £950.00 + vat on an exchange basis. (£600 exchange). A 'taping' service is also available for this head at an additional cost of £100 which will give the final hand finish to the ports and provide a further 1% flow.

Note : flow diagrams show flow against specific valve openings at 0.050 inch valve openings at 10" pressure. Therefore actual flow volume increase is measured as the area under the graph (indicated in yellow for inlet and blue for exhaust). Standard valve sizes are used on our heads unless specified as a big valve version. Tests shown here are carried out on a flow bench on a bare head without filters. Therefore the difference between a standard engine with standard inlet ducting and filters will be larger than shown here.
